Richmond upon Thames is the Borough where London meets the countryside. It has attributes of town: Queen Anne, Georgian and newer buildings; theatres, concerts, shops as well as small and large businesses. Its unique situation on a beautiful bend of the river, bounded by Richmond Hill with Turner’s view, two Royal Parks and Kew Gardens, has attracted visitors for centuries. We must thank previous generations for the fact that so much of its beauty and splendour has endured. The Richmond Society as your local Civic Society, works to preserve and enhance all of this and more.
Joining the Society is a way of supporting the cause of making and keeping Richmond a good place in which to live, work and visit. As well as providing this solidarity, members can dip into the wide range of activities we run – walks, talks, social events and awards, as well as activities aimed at families with younger children.
